This Week’s Ones: June 20th

This Week’s Ones points out great jumping-on points for new readers. This could include new story arcs, as well as actual #1 issues from whole new series. Remember how I was telling how huge the selection of jumping points were during the last couple of weeks? Well this week is EXACTLY like that… Except there’s only three books this time. Hey. We need these little slow weeks from time to time. Especially now, with graduations, barbecues, plowing, etc. But there are still good books out there for us “must read now” types. And with that I start you off with a franchise we covered way back on Halloween over a year ago…

Up this week: Baltimore: Dr. Leskovar’s Remedy #1, Before Watchmen – Comedian #1 and Nightwing #10.

The Big One for June 20th

*** Baltimore: Dr. Leskovar’s Remedy #1***

An army of malformed vampires controls a small Croatian town, but Lord Henry Baltimore arrives to put an end to this madness, fighting his way to their creator-a twisted surgeon akin to Moreau and Mengele! “With Baltimore, Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden lay siege to the reader’s imagination with a grim battalion of gothic images and a thunderous barrage of narrative artillery.” -Joe Hill

If you’ve ever read Watchmen than you know that the Comedian is the one of the least likable characters in all of comics. He is also one of the most compelling. Everything about him. His name coupled with his sometimes atrocities, make him a walking enigma. Dig into this one to see what additional surprises he may have in store for us.

Nightwing #10

Nightwing begins investigating a double murder in Old Gotham that happens to feature part of his costume as evidence. Introducing the Republic of Tomorrow and their leader, Paragon.

He was the original Robin. He’s got a super badass costume. And he’s got a thing for redheads (Who doesn’t?). The problem I knew DC was going to have when they introduced 52 titles all starting at number one, is that by issue 10, you’ll have 52 titles with almost a year of story behind them all at the same time. Now that “Night Of Owls” is over, all the Bat related titles can now start on new stories. Here’s your chance to jump into one.
